Winter Solstice 2014

This event will be run over two days, with each day having separate sanctioning. 

The trails are typical coastal forest terrain - pine needles, gravel, some sand etc. Trails are mainly flat with some slight undulations, along with some long straight sections for all classes.

Saturday 24th May

2:00pm: Gates open
2:30pm: Gates close
2:45pm: Bib draw and musher's meeting. YOU OR YOUR PROXY MUST ATTEND.
3:00pm (approx): Pee-wees followed by:

  • Canicross
  • Bikejoring
  • Two dog scooter
  • Single dog scooter
  • Rig classes

On completion of rig classes, the results for Solstice I, bib draw and musher's meeting for Solstice II will be held at Spencer Park Cafe. YOU OR YOUR PROXY MUST ATTEND. 

Sunday 25th May

6:30am: Gates open
7:15am: Gates close
7:30am: Rig classes start

On completion of rig classes, the following classes will be held in the order given here:

  • Single dog scooter
  • Two dog scooter
  • Bikejoring
  • Pee-wees

11:00am (approximately): Café brunch following by prize giving for the Solstice II at Spencer Park Cafe.

Classes & Distances

  • 6 and 4 Dog Rig: 6km 
  • 3 and 2 Dog Rig: 5km 
  • 2 Dog Scooter: 3km 
  • Single Dog Scooter: 3km
  • Canicross: 3km 
  • Bikejoring: 3km
  • Pee-wee: 500m

The starting intervals for rig class will be one minute. 6 & 4 dog classes will start first, followed by a 5 minute gap, then 3 & 2 dog rig classes. The starting intervals for the single dog and 2 dog scooter races will be thirty seconds. Canicross and bikejoring will be a mass start. The pee-wee fun run will have 30 second intervals.

  • The on call vet for the race is Total Veterinary Services. 03 3894564 (10am - 2pm Sat/Sun) 021701889 (after hours).
  • Helmets will be compulsory in all classes except canicross. Any musher arriving at the start line without a helmet will not be permitted to race.
