Canterbury Sled Dog Club will be holding our premier sanctioned 2 day race event at Chaney’s Forest, over the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of August 2020.

Bib Draw
Mushers must attend the bib draw or appoint a proxy.

Forest Entry Requirements
Vehicles will be checked for the following requirements before entering the forest, please have your vehicle available for inspection at the gate.
Current W.O.F., Registration and R.U.C. (Vehicle and trailer)
Minimum third party insurance
Carry a first aid kit and minimum 1kg fire extinguisher
Non Turbo diesel vehicles must fit a spark arrestor
Other Requirements
Helmets are mandatory in all classes except Canicross. Any musher arriving at the start line without a helmet will not be permitted to race.
Dogs must be on leash or securely restrained and supervised at all times, at the race venue and at race headquarters.
Dogs must be at least 12 months old on the day of the race.
Necklines connecting double lead dogs are mandatory.
Do not bring any dog to the event that has been exposed to any contagious disease.
You may only go where directed for races, the rest of the forest is out of bounds.
The RGO takes the health and safety of all competitors, members and the public seriously, you must follow all procedures, policies, lawful instructions and signage relating to health and safety and take all practical steps to ensure the safety of myself and others at the race.
Trail distances are approximate, and may be subject to change on the day due to weather events, forest operations, or conditions on the day.
All rubbish and dog waste is to be removed from the forest.
Smoking or lighting of fires is prohibited in the forest.
Accommodation
Dog friendly accommodation is available at either Spencer Beach Holiday Park or 219 on Johns Holiday Park, please contact them directly to book.
Saturday Lunch
A spit roast lunch accompanied by salads will be provided at the Pony club prior to the prize giving
Catering in the forest
Bonjour Coffee will be on hand for the first few hours to keep you refreshed, eftpos is available but cash is recommended due to poor cell phone coverage. BBQ lunch will be available following the race.
